Jota’s heartbroken wife visits Anfield with Liverpool stars to lay flowers

The deeply sad wife of Diogo Jota visited Anfield to view the tribute that were left for her husband.

Rute Cardoso, 28, embraced two children while watching the sea of flowers, teddies, scarves, football shirts and messages.

Liverpool players also wore flowers as a tribute to Jota, who died in a car accident with his brother Andre Silva.

Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Darwin Nunez were among those present – who represent the club next to head coach Arne Slot.

Some of Jota's international teammates who were present during the ceremony were Captain Bruno Fernandes of Manchester United, Chelsea's João Félix and Bernardo Silva from Manchester City.

A huge crowd of mourners gathered outside the church and showed support for the friends, family, coaches and teammates of the brothers while they were in procession.

The service was private, but a live audio supply was played outside the church.

The children of Jota's children who were not employed, as did their mother and grandparents, the Gondomar priest was heard in the broadcast: “There are no words, but there are feelings.

“We also suffer a lot, and we are emotional with you.”
