Reigning Champions League winners PSG locks the horns with Chelsea in the club World Cup final on Sunday and Luis Enrique has warned the blues that pursues his side “History” in the Metlife Stadium
Paris Saint Germain Baas Luis Enrique has told his players to complete an “unforgettable season” by writing their name in the history books.
But even after winning the Champions League for the first time and red -hot favorites, Enrique has warned that they should not take Chelsea and Enzo Maresca lightly.
The PSG boss said: “The Champions League was our first and it was very important: that was our main goal when we came to Paris last year.
“And on Sunday we have the chance, with the last game of the season, to win another one, with the Club World Cup. But it is important that we are aware of the difficulty of the game.
“Enzo Maresca is a coach I love. I love the way he plays with the ball. They have many good individual platforms, but they also have a real sense of duty. They look a bit like our team. They are also physically strong.
“Chelsea won the Conference League, they finished fourth in the competition, they grow a lot. They have great players, technical players and a great coach that I like a lot because of how they try to play, always pressing, always wanting to attack.
“They are a very complete team that has produced a sensational season. This is not a simple team and it is not a formality or something like that. We will be 100% aimed to try to complete a historical season.”
PSG's Brazil defender Marquinhos added: “We are very aware of the importance of this competition. It is a golden opportunity for us.
“This is a tournament that is held every four years and we don't know if we get another chance. We don't know what things will look like in four years.
“We want to take this title to make it a perfect season that is difficult to replicate. We really want this title. We want to write history and are really hungry for a victory.”
In the meantime, Maresca was free to the opposite song Enrique prior to the huge game, and said he used him as a “reference” in his career.
“Luis Enrique is not only a reference for me, but for all people who love football,” he said at his press conference. “At the same time, [for our style]I think we have shown this season how we want to do things on and outside.
'I agree with most people who say [PSG] are the best team in Europe and the world. The reason why they show this. We have maximum respect for them. I really enjoy seeing them, but we are here to do our best and win the final. “
