Frederico Varandas has taken a position about the Swedish striker after his decision not to report to the training.

Despite the attitude of the Scandinavians, Frederico Varandas, president of the 'Lions', remains calm and convinced that the future of Gyökeres will be resolved at the end of the transfer market, but not before the attacker is warned that he will be punished with a fine.
“We are calm. Everything will be resolved at the end of the transfer window, a big fine and an apology to the group,” said the sporting president in statements to the Portuguese media outlet Lusa.
But Varandas did not stop there and focused on Arsenal and stated that the Gunners should be willing to pay the amount that the club asks for the player, because otherwise they have to wait until his contract ends in 2028.
“If they do not want to pay a real market value for Viktor (Gyökeres), we will be very comfortable there for the next three years,” he said.
Finally, the top manager of Sporting asked the “exit strategy” of the Swede and warned that “no one is above the club”.
“If the geniuses that come up with this strategy think that this exerts pressure on me to facilitate the exit, they are not only completely wrong, but they also make the player's exit even more complicated. No one is above the interests of the club, whoever they are,” he concluded.
