Arne Slot brought emotional tribute to Diogo Jota in a first interview since the tragic death of Liverpool last week last week.
The Reds are back in action this Sunday when they start their preparations for the season with a friendly Tegen-Preston for championship side.
In the aftermath of Jota's passing Liverpool, it announced that his no. No 20 -Squad number would be retired to pay tribute to the Portuguese attacker.
Slot explained the decision to pay tribute to Jota.
“We will always carry him in our hearts, in our thoughts, wherever we go,” Slot said the club's website.
'Maybe especially at difficult moments because of what I just said. But at any time we are here, we will wear it with us in our thoughts and in our hearts.
“His shirt retiring is the only thing we could and have done.”
