Bayern Munich ‘target Arsenal star as back-up option’ amid faltering pursuit of Liverpool’s Luis Diaz

Bayern Munich is considering a movement for an Arsenal star in case they cannot secure the signing of Luis Diaz from Liverpool.

The German club has pursued a move for Diaz, but a reported offer of € 52 million (£ 44.9 million) was not considered sufficient by the Reds.

As a result, Bayern sports director Max Eberl may have to be focused elsewhere, because the club wants to bring in a new winger.

The Vincent Kompany team has lost several attackers, with Thomas Muller left the club, while Mathys Tel has permanently joined Tottenham and Leroy Sane is now in Galatasaray.

It has now emerged that an Arsenal player can be an important target for Bayern.

Bayern won the Bundesliga title last season, but was eliminated in the quarterfinals of both the Champions League and the Club World Cup.

As reported by Bild, Bayern is interested in a possible movement for Arsenal's Leandro Trossard.

The wing player has less than a year on his contract with the Gunners and while Arsenal wants to extend his deal, Trossard would hesitate to do this.

Trossard, 30, is confronted with competition from Gabriel Martinelli for a starting berth on the left wing, while Arsenal is also set to secure the signing of Noni Madueke from Chelsea.

Real Madrid star Rodrygo is also linked to a switch to Emirates Stadium.

Belgium International Trossard would like to ensure that he will play regularly next season.

After starting at Genk, Trossard joined Brighton in 2019 and then signed for Arsenal in January 2023.

Trossard has made 124 performances for Arsenal and scored 28 goals, while offering 23 assists.

Liverpool insists that they will not sell Diaz, who has also attracted interest from Barcelona and clubs in Saudi Arabia.

Diaz recently said: 'I am very, very happy in Liverpool. From the first day they really made me feel welcome.

'At the moment we have contact with them because we are talking [other] Clubs. It is normal, the market is open and we try to find out what is best for us.

'I just wait to see what is happening. If Liverpool does not make a good offer, I will have two years left with them, I would be happy and be satisfied to stay there. And that is, everything clearly depends on it, it is up to me to decide what is best for us. '
