PSG centre-back Lucas Beraldo hands in transfer request

PSG Center-Back Lucas Beraldo (21) has submitted a transfer request to the managers of the Ligue 1-side, according to a report from L'Equipe. International Brazil wants to increase its playing time and prove its value elsewhere. Beraldo came to PSG from São Paulo eighteen months ago in a deal of € 20 million. The center-back is said to be happy in Paris and grateful to bloom in an environment that is as competitive as PSGs.

But Beraldo is aware that he will be seen as a backup player to be called when one of the two starting centers backs is not available. Beraldo started for the World Cup Final on Sunday in the absence of Willian Pacho, and he was struggling badly to contain Cole Palmer and João Pedro. But the way he filled for Marquinhos in the quarterfinals of the Champions League against Aston Villa fed his confidence in his ability to hear at the highest level. And with the World Cup 2026 in less than a year, the Brazilian international is reportedly ready to take a leap into the faith.

PSG is reportedly surprised by Beraldo's transfer request. But since the winners of the Champions League are planning to build on with players who are fully committed to the Luis Enrique project, PSG has in principle agreed to separate under certain conditions. Those conditions are the signing of PSG's primary target at the back – Bournemouth's Illya Zabarnyi – and for Beraldo to control a considerable transfer costs, probably above € 30 million.
