Manchester United has confirmed the appointment of Darren Fletcher as head coach for the Under-18S team.
United says that Fletcher has started his new role with immediate effect and supervises the preparations for the young players for the season who started a training camp at Adidas headquarters in Germany.
They also achieved an 8-2 victory over QPR in a friendly in Carrington at the weekend.
The 41-year-old former midfielder, who spent 20 years at United after the Academy, returned as a youth team coach under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and became the first technical director of the club in March 2021.
However, Fletcher left that role when Ineos Jason brought in Wilcox as technical director in April last year.
He became part of the football leadership team that worked with the first team and the Academy of the men.
“I am very enthusiastic to take on this new role and to increase my responsibility to develop our young players directly,” said Fletcher, who the Champions League, Five Premier League titles, the FA Cup, Two League Cups and the FIFA Club World Cup at United Won.

Fletcher, who keeps his UEFA a license, brought closely with Ruben Amorim and the first team last season and he operated as a leadership to help Academy players in training groups and Matchday Squadrons.
He has the ambitions of a day that in itself becomes a manager and the role under 18, which was previously held by Ipswich Town boss Kieran McKenna, is seen as a great opportunity to cut his teeth into a prestigious role.
This new role offers the first chance of Fletcher to lead a team and add it to his coaching CV.
