Max Holloway expects Dustin Poirier to ‘oblige’ to gesture that led to iconic knockout ahead of UFC 318 clash

BMF title holder Max Holloway believes that the last 10 seconds UFC 318 could be a chaotic moment again.

Max Holloway and Dustin Poirier are going to fight for the third time of their legendary career on UFC 318 this Saturday. It will be Poirier's Last Hera, such as the inhabitant of Lafayette, Louisiana, goes back after UFC 318 for hundreds of friends and family in New Orleans.

Holloway and Poirier share a cordial, yet competitive relationship prior to their trilogy on UFC 318. Although Holloway Poirier wishes well in retirement, he does not intend to send his old rival in a high tone.

Max Holloway plans the last second fight with Dustin Poirier on UFC 318

The BMF title of Holloway will again be on the line on UFC 318, because Poirier gets a second chance to earn the coveted Favefene belt. Poirier lost to Justin Gaethje by head-kick knockout for the then vacant BMF belt on UFC 291.

After Gaethje Poirier had switched off, Holloway would be the next BMF title -which Gaethje eliminated at the buzzer at UFC 300. It remains one of the most iconic knockouts in the history of UFC.

Holloway's Ko was partially initiated because of a 'point down' gesture that he gave to Gaethje as a signal to throw wild scholarships at the end of their UFC 300 fight. If their UFC 318 Headliner goes the distance, Holloway is planning to possibly write history again.

In a recent interview with MMA Junkie's Mike Bohn, Holloway was asked if Lightning could strike for the third time in his career against Poirier on UFC 318.

“(I am) 100 percent sure he would do that,” said Holloway about Poirier.

“Last dance. The last 10 seconds. Wise to the ground. He might even do it. I am 100 percent sure he will bring it.

“I am hearing those words. If it is a war he wants, it is a war that he is going to get. It will be a bunch of knuckles in it. I would not want it in any other way, especially with the BMF title on the line.”

In his career, Holloway successfully started chaotic, last second fights. The first was when he came up with the ranks of the featherweight against Ricardo Lamas, with the second against Gaethje.

Holloway and Poirier are not strangers for wild, chaotic fights in the Achthoek. Poirier earned 10 'Fight of the Night' output bonuses during his career, including the most recently against Islam Makhachev on UFC 302.

Max Holloway vs. Justin Gaethje Rematch possible after UFC 318

If Holloway is the victory over UFC 318, he may be one victory away from a challenge for the UFC light weight title. His former rival, Ilia Topuria, earned the then belt on UFC 317 last month.

Holloway recently brushed Topuria's Drie-Vecht Knock-Out Streak with victories over Alexander Volkanovski, Charles Oliveira and him. Holloway lost to Topuria on UFC 308 before he announced a full -time switch to the lightweight division.

Holloway could possibly be confronted in a rematch, if Gaethje does not retire after his recent ultimatum for the UFC buyer. Gaethje has not fought since the beating of Rafael Fiziev on UFC 313.
