In the first round, Poirier started chopping at the leg of the Irishman and landed a few large troubles on the chin of the former double champion.
Towards the end of the first round, McGregor landed a few large shots, but they were answered back by Poirier who kept landing huge legs.
And when in the second round 'The Diamond' landed a huge series that then left McGregor cold on the canvas and the Irishman handed his first UFC loss by KO.
