The French forward gave an exclusive interview in which he detailed his relationship with former teammate Lionel Messi.
Real Madrid's new striker Kylian Mbappe spoke on French television in which he gave a candid interview that covered various topics including his adjustment to Spain, the French national team, politics and the pressures of professional footballers in the modern era.
In addition to all this, Mbappé was asked about Inter Miami striker Lionel Messi, with whom he played alongside Paris Saint Germain.
The two crossed paths at the 2022 World Cup, when Argentina played France in the final, with the South American side ultimately winning on penalties after an incredible 3-3 draw that saw both stars in the spotlight.
What did Kylian Mbappe say about Lionel Messi?
“When I saw Messi at PSG training after the World Cup final, I was still so angry,” Mbappé admitted.
“But he told me I had won it before, and now it was his turn.
“I was furious, but you respect it because it's Messi. We broke the ice by laughing together because we had fought a battle. We made memories at the final. I think that final brought us closer together.
“I learned a lot from him. Messi does everything right. You can learn everything from such a man. I often went to him and asked him, 'How do you do this? How do you do that?'.”
So it seems that the relationship between the two is positive, despite playing against each other on the pitch and also considering that Mbappe is now one of the stars at one of Messi's former rivals, Real Madrid.
