Manchester United will be about £ 7 million banking after one of their former players has completed a large money movement from Benfica to Real Madrid in the summer transfer window
Manchester United is set for a handy fee of approximately £ 7 million after their former player Alvaro Carreras had completed his move to Real Madrid. Carreras spent four years in the books in United and never made a first team performance but he has now proved to be useful.
Carreras joined United as a 16-year-old from Real in 2020, but left after being frustrated due to the lack of possibilities for the first team. After loans in Preston and Granada, he made an impression on loan from Benfica, who paid around £ 5 million to make his move permanent last summer.
United has wisely decided to insert purchasing and sold-out clauses in that deal with Benfica, and although they chose not to sign the 22-year-old left back, they have benefited from the other clause.
That is because Real has now confirmed the signing of Carreras with a six -year contract for a reimbursement of approximately € 50 million (£ 43 million). United owes 20 percent of them – around £ 7.2 million.
Real paid that amount after Carreras contributed four goals and five assists in 52 games for Benfica last season. He spent Time in Real's Academy in the past and now plays on the other side of the defense against Trent Alexander-Arnold on the side of Xabi Alonso, competing with Ferland Mendy for a place in the starting XI.
The money will be useful for United, who is about to increase more than £ 60 million to sign Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford, with also £ 62.5 million for Matheus Cunha. United has also received £ 6 million from Anthony Elangas £ 55 million from Nottingham Forest to Newcastle from a comparable clause.
United could have decided to reduce Carreras for just £ 16 million last year, but did not decide, with Tyrell Malacia and Luke Shaw in the books. Later they signed Patrick Dorgu in January to add options on the left side of the defense.
At that time, former United -Baas Erik ten Hag said: “I think the process is perfect. We borrow it to Preston, he stepped back, then we borrowed him to Granada, he didn't play that much, and of course we always observed him and now we had the opportunity to sell him.
“But we have a return [clause] So we have control over the situation, I think he needed it.
“From Preston, then go to La Liga, go to Portugal [with Benfica]Every time a higher club and a better competition stepped. Now we have to see and assess the situation if he can be an option for us. But playing at Man United is not that easy, playing in the Premier League for Manchester United is not that easy. You need experience, including development. You get development by playing for better clubs and in better competitions. “
