Much of the conversation around Barcelona often focuses on arrivals in the summer transfer market, but just as important for the salary limit struggles are the outputs. Manager Hansi Flick and Director Football Deco have various items on their agenda to solve and are set as quickly as possible.
According to the sport, there are five players who want to continue Barcelona this summer. One is Captain Marc-Andre Ter Stegen, that seems as if it will be anything but simple. Inaki Pena is looking for a new destination and Pau Victor will also leave the club for the right destination. The club also wants to secure a move for Andreas Christensen, although he too has not shown a sign that he would like to leave.
The fifth would be midfielder Oriol Romeu. The 33-year-old spent on loan in Girona last season and has another year about his deal. He is not part of Hansi Flick's plans, but Marca says he is waiting for an honest conversation with the German manager before solving his future. Given his age and contract, Barcelona accepts that it is unlikely that they will receive transfer costs for him and will work on a mutual termination of his deal. How much money Romeu is willing to give up can be a bottleneck.
It seems that he has a destination. Girona would like him to have a year ago and wait to see how things progress. They will not pay transfer costs, but the idea is that Barcelona and Romeu will solve things before they go on tour to Japan and South Korea for the preseason. The former Chelsea man spent two of the last three seasons in Montilivi and moved back to Barcelona in 2023 for € 3.4 million.
