Barcelona is confronted with another summer of salary limit, where their latest 'economic lever' will not be available to them before the end of the summer transfer window. The reason is that the delays at work at Camp Nou, which have been lagging behind schedule for eight months.
In January, Barcelona rattled the rental agreement of 475 VIP chairs for the next 30 years to Fort Advisors and New Era Visionary Group. The deal brought € 100 million to their bills and placed the club back within their La Liga limit, so that they could register players with 100% of the money they save or earn. In March, however, Auditors Crowe removed the income from their balance, because the product does not yet exist, and as such from their salary limit.
Last week, Barcelona received an event license from the Barcelona city council, the first of two that they should be able to play to play games in Spotify Camp Nou. However, Sport, MD and Marca all report that Barcelona has given up the hope of the second license – which means that first access to the location – is granted on time. The club needs the license to come in this week to be able to organize the Joan Gamper -Trophy against Como on 10 August, as planned.
The club will make a decision about the gamper trophy by the end of this week. If Camp Nou is off the table, they can organize the competition in the Estadi Johan Cruyff (6,000 capacity), or to cancel the event downright. Initially they had hoped to host it with 60,000 fans, then 30,000, but it now looks like an almost impossible question. Barcelona believes that they can organize their first home game of the season on September 14.
If that is indeed the case, it has a dramatic impact on the transfer company of Barcelona. The Blaugrana have already signed Joan Garcia for € 25 million this summer, but so far unable to register it. They still have other new contracts to register, including Wojciech also Szczesny. Strengthening their attack is also a priority this summer, but a big step seems impossible without their lease of € 100 million being included in their salary limit.
