Barcelona hopes to sign a new attacker before the end of the summer transfer window, where options are identified. One of their leading goals is Marcus Rashford, who seems to be sure to leave Manchester United after being out of grace at Old Trafford.
Hansi Flick wants Rashford in Barcelona and movements have already been made to take him to the Spotify Camp Nou. But according to Man United Icon Teddy Sheringham, the Catalans should not sign the English international.
According to the sport, Sheringham believes that the antics of Rashford do not earn from a move to the La Liga champions in recent months.
“If you judge where Marcus Rashford is as a professional football player, you strive as a young person to reach and play the top for clubs like Manchester United, and if you are there, you appreciate it. You don't throw it away and say that you want to leave.
“I find the entire episode very pathetic, compared to the way I used to be and how I aimed to get the privilege to play for such a huge football club. I hope Rashford will not get the movement he is going. From my perspective, if you go from Manchester United to Barcelona to Barcelona, that is a step that he doesn't deserve.”
In recent weeks it has been generally stated that Rashford's priority is to become a member of Barcelona, but although he is willing to wait a while for the Catalans to open conversations with Man United, he wants a solution that is found as quickly as possible.
But the problem is that Barcelona cannot afford to sign it until they return to La Ligas 1: 1 rule – and to make that happen, they must go at least two or three players, which is easier said than done.
