Dustin Poirier confirms rap legend will make the walk with him for UFC 318 retirement after pitching dream scenario

The UFC has taken everything out of the closet to give Dustin Poirier the pension fight he deserves.

Although Dana White Max Holloway may not provide the same special treatment, the promotion has moved the schedule to have UFC 318 take place in New Orleans.

Fighting in his home standing against a colleague legend of the sport was one of the great goals that 'The Diamond' wanted to check for his latest dance.

With the BMF title on the line there has also been a conversation about who should wrap the belt around Poirier or Holloway.

Months before his last fighting week arrived, Poirier also outlined plans for his dream walk before entering the Octagon for the last time.

Dustin Poirier confirms Dream Walk Out plans with Lil Wayne who accompanies him to the Octagon

During his media day interviews at the UFC 318 Fight Week, Dustin Poirier confirmed that the dream scenario he threw for his last walk will happen on Saturday evening.

Anyone who has been looking at 'The Diamond' for a while knows that his Uitlee song is the iconic James Brown track, 'The Boss'.

However, this was not always the case, because when he started his UFC career in 2011, Poirier would find his way to the Octagon to the sound of Lil Wayne's 'Drop the world'.

Poirier previously stated during an interview on the Ariel Helwani show in April that if the resident of New Orleans Lil Wayne wanted to take him to the Octagon, he would go back to the use of the rapper's track.

Although he has changed ideas about this plan since then, 'the diamond' told the media that he will be accompanied by the rap legend in the Smoothie King Center on July 19.

“It will be a bit of James Brown, a bit Wayne. Yes, Wayne walks with me.”

When Poirier was asked about his decision to still give James Brown outside in the walk, he said it just had to be part of the last walk.

“I mean, I have to and I have paid the costs to be the boss. So with my last I can't change it, I can't go that far from it. I have to hear that. I have to feel that atmosphere before I fight someone.”

Dustin Poirier was overcome by emotion while reading pension letters

UFC 318 is certainly an emotional moment for Dustin Poirier while he takes what an incredible career has been.

Prior to Fight Night, 'The Diamond' received different letters from different remarkable supporters in his life, which led to his emotions back.

Poirier read the letters aloud in an interview with ESPN MMA before stopping and asks to keep them after July 19.

By the time that 'The Boss' strikes on Saturday evening, you can expect Poirier in the full war mode for the last time.
