Conor McGregor’s monster PPV record leaves Daniel Cormier in disbelief

Daniel Cormier remained astonished when he heard about the huge record of Conor McGregor for UFC Pay-per-View events.

Although the stock of the Irishman may not be at a record high at the moment, he is by far the most famous MMA hunter of all time. Even four years after his last fight, he remains one of the faces of the UFC next to Dana White and a few other important names.

During his heyday, the Irishman could not miss a pay-per-view. He would be famous, otherwise Run van de Molen pulls like Eddie Alvarez, Dustin Poirier and even Jose Aldo in stars who could sell 1 million pay-per-views or more.

Daniel Cormier was surprised to learn about the PPV record of Conor McGregor

During the Weegshow for UFC 318, a game was played in which the hosts had to choose a record they thought they would never be broken. The impressive 21 Takedowns of Khabib Nurmagomedov in one fight was one, as well as most battles by Jim Miller in the UFC at 46.

But Daniel Cormier seemed the most surprised to hear that Conor McGregor, from his peak to even post-covid, had reached the million on pay-per-view eight times in a row. It was even noted that the number nine would be if you count his boxing with Floyd Mayweather halfway through the run.

For the first time, McGregor broke the seven -digit barrier against Jose Aldo in 2015 before his series of battles with Nate Diaz and his second title win against Eddie Alvarez. That made him all unmistakably for Mayweather, and his UFC returned to Khabib Nurmagomedov as the largest UFC fight in history.

From there, injuries and outside the Octagon problems are seriously limited. However, he managed to maintain his sales streak with his comeback against Donald 'Cowboy' Cerrone in January 2020 and his series from 2021 with Dustin Poirier.

Conor McGregor looks at comeback next summer

The Irishman has not fought since he brutally broke his leg against Poirier in their trilogy in July 2021. He would come back to Michael Chandler last summer, but the fight was canceled because of a broken toe.

Now he looks at a return in the summer of 2024 during the long -awaited event of the UFC in the White House. President Donald Trump has announced a map of which Dana White says it will be the largest in the UFC history and could contain both McGregor and Jon Jones.

McGregor has claimed to be back in the UFC drug test pool in preparation for that card, although it is still to be seen if it actually happened. He has not sent a test back for more than a year and his current status is unknown.
