Arsenal is working on closing a deal for sporty Lisbon striker Viktor Gyokeres after months of speculation that claims that the Sweden International was bound in Emirates
Mikel Arteta is told that Viktor Gyokeres should be used as a lonely striker if Arsenal would get the best out of him in the Premier League by the former manager of England, Roy Hodgson.
The Gunners have set their sights on the Sweden International in their search for a new No. 9 and talk to Sporting Lisbon about a deal for the 27-year-old are now advanced. Gyokeres desperately wants the move and has already made it clear that he will no longer return to play for the Portuguese champions.
Arsenal hopes that a selection gift drawing in the attack can help them finally win the Premier League after being second for a third consecutive year.
And although Hodgson is convinced that landing Gyokeres will be a 'real spring in the cap' for Arsenal, he has emphasized that both the Gunners and the Sweden national team – who also bow to Alexander Isak in their ranks – should use him well.
“Viktor Gyokeres is already in a big club, he gets the football level that the Swedish national team would like, but if he comes to England, I am pretty sure that this will be welcomed if you want, if you want, the entire Premier League in terms of the game he will bring,” said Hodgson Hajper.
“If Arsenal signs him, it will be a real ferry in their limit. With regard to the national team, the coach of the national team can give a decision to make, because I think both Alexander Isak and Gyokeres are used to playing as a lonely center forward, backwards from behind or the wings.
“So it may mean that he should think about how I am going to organize it, because to get the best out of both players, it seems to me that they should play centrally that he would push him to a system that may have to compensate for other areas, but that is not difficult to do if he wants to do it.
“I would advise to move one of them out of position and push them wide, for example, because I don't think that would be necessary, the success we would think of if you think of two really good center ahead and what they can bring to the team.
“They have to be together. It is not impossible. You go back to all Liverpool teams that you can think of that were successful and the Manchester United teams, they all had two attackers who played together.”
Although it is still too considered how the National Team of Sweden will get the best out of both Gyokees and Isak, the situation is much clearer at Arsenal, who most likely uses Gyokeres as their husband out and out.
The Gunners have already strengthened their attacking options by signing Noni Madueke and is also expected to follow a deal for Ebereechi Eze of Crystal Palace.
