Former UFC title challenger receives replacement undefeated opponent after coming closest to dethrone dominant champ

'Astroboy' will return to a new opponent on August 9, looking forward to ending his Winless Run.

After receiving a surprising UFC title shot, Steve Erceg came close to beating Alexandre Pantoja before the Brazilian established his dominance in the flying weight division.

Some even thought that Erceg deserved to beat Pantoja at UFC 301 in Brazil, with two jury members who came to the fifth round.

The results have not disappeared from the Australian since his spicy title challenge, which apparently proved that he belonged to the top of the division.

ERCEG was defeated earlier this year by Brandon Moreno to bring three losses in a row, making his next fight an essential moment in his UFC career.

Steve Erceg is confronted with unbeaten Hyun Sung Park after Alex Perez withdrew from 9 August

Apart from his UFC 305 knockout loss against Kai Kara-France, Steve Erceg was competitive against both Alexandre Pantoja and Brandon Moreno.

In this stage, however, 'Astroboy' has a great need for a result, even if his versions have shown that he can compete with the top hunters at 125 pounds.

Erceg was planned to make his return on August 9 at UFC Vegas 109 against a colleague -Farly title -Uitdager, Alex Perez.

Unfortunately, Perez's poor track record for canceled battles came back when the 33-year-old withdrew from the Co-Main Event Matchup in the Apex in Las Vegas.

ERCEG has now been booked against a replacement opponent who announced the fight through his Instagram after a strong start of life in the UFC.

After having previously won the flight weight tournament on season one of Road to UFC, unbeaten Hyun Sung Park has now won three fights in a row in the Octagon and finished each opponent.

Steve Erceg was apparently a correct decision, away from beating Alexandre Pantoja on UFC 301

In his flying weight fight with Alexandre Pantoja, many believed that if Steve Erceg could win the final round, he had dethroned the champion.

With 90 seconds left on the clock, the challenger shot in for a Takedown that was reversed by his opponent, who spent the rest of the fight in top position.

There was a lot of criticism of Erceg's decision in the final moments, although he told Full MMA completely after the fight that he did not regret his decision.

“I really thought that if I could take it down, I would eat some time on the floor and make him even more tired and then win more on the feet. So I would probably have done exactly the same. The next time I just have to be better at it.”

After having lost three in a row since that moment, it remains one of the most important moments in his career.
