Liverpool tries to negotiate a transfer for Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike after testing the water with Newcastle for Alexander Isak earlier this week
Liverpool works hard to sign a center-forward to add to their series of transfers in the summer window.
The Reds have already concluded deals for Florian Wirtz, Jeremie Frimpong, Milos Kerkez, Armin Pesci and Freddie Woodman for an edition of approximately £ 180 million. But they are not happy to stop there, with a Center-Forward and Center-back among the other additions sought by Arne Slot.
There are also departure on the tickets in Anfield, with Darwin Nunez, Luis Diaz, Ibrahima Konate and Harvey Elliott among those who can be sold before the window, closes on 1 September.
Liverpool has already played Preston in the preseason and will soon go to Asia, where they will be confronted with AC Milan and Yokohama in Hong Kong and Japan. Slot wants to pack transfers packed as quickly as possible, so that he can play how they can defend their Premier League title. Here are the latest news stories about Liverpool.
Howe speaks out on Isak
Eddie Howe tried to explain the situation around Alexander Isak after he was absent in the 4-0 defeat of Newcastle by Celtic on Saturday. Liverpool asked about a £ 120 million deal for Isak earlier in the week before he continued to chase his own target, Hugo Ekitike.
But the absence of ISAK had worn some fans of Newcastle – and although Howe refused to give certainty that the Swede would remain – he explained things.
“I decided to send him home because of the speculation around him,” he admitted before he added, “Yes, I had discussions with him, but that is not abnormal. I respect the career of a player and how short it is. Alex has been really good, he has been really well trained and I realize that there will be noise around him.”
Ekitike move tied to Diaz
Liverpool is in negotiations with Eintracht Frankfurt about a transfer for Ekitike, who has already agreed personal conditions for a six -year deal with the Reds. Ekitike was chased by Newcastle, but is supposed to prefer an move to Anfield.
He has a release clause of £ 86 million, but Liverpool takes things slowly and tries to take him away from the German club. And Sky Sports Germany says that Bayern Munich's efforts to sign Luis Diaz are linked to the future of Ekitike.
Diaz wants to leave Liverpool, but they have already rejected an £ 58 million offer from Bayern. Although they have been public that the Colombian winger is not for sale, the sources of Sky in Germany suggest that they will light the move green if it is clear that Ekitike is on board.
Guehi 'deal to do'
Things have come to a halt on the interest of Liverpool in Crystal Palace star star Marc Guehi, but that interest has not disappeared. Guehi started in the last year of his palace contract and does not like to sign a new one.
Palace has tried to dampen the transfer speculation by placing a £ 65 million appreciation on the English international. But BBC Sport reporter Sami Mokbel thinks they will eventually do for fewer business.
Speaking with the Redmen TV, Mokbel explained: “That interest is in progress. My understanding is at the moment that there is nothing club-to-club yet. I expect that this will happen in some form in the not too distant future. It is due to the clubs that reach an agreement. I don't know if it will necessarily be so easy, how Palace works.”
He added: “I think all parties will probably realize that a deal can be made here.”
