Real Madrid's youth system will continue to see changes this summer, with a different LA Fabrica talent on the way to the exit.
This time it is Edgar Pujol, a 20-year-old center-back that came to Los Blancos in 2019 from Espanyol's Academy. After six years at the youth team, the Dominican Republic International is now ready for a new challenge.
In the footsteps of Victor Munoz, Youssef Enriquez and Rafael Obrador, who moved to Osasuna, Alavés and Benfica respectively, Pujol agreed to renounce Real Madrid.
ACCORIDNG to a report from Mundo Deportivo, it is said that its next destination will race the Ferrol, a club that has recently been relegated from the Second Division of Spain to the 1ªrff, the third category of the Spanish football competition system.
The move is expected to give Pujol the minutes of the first team that he must continue to develop.
Sincere message from Pujol
Pujol announced his departure with a personal farewell to social media and gratefully expressed to the club and those who supported him during his time at Real Madrid.
“Today I say goodbye to what my home has been in the last six years. Thanks to Real Madrid that I can grow as a football player and as a person at this great club,” he wrote.
He also mentioned the many people who played a role in his journey: “I want to thank all coaches, employees, doctors, physios, kit men and everyone in Valdebebas.
“Of course I also thank my teammates, with whom I have shared unforgettable moments. And for the fans, thank you for your love and support.”
Pujol's message ended with a simple but sincere line: “I leave with a bag full of lessons and memories. I wish you the very best. Hala Madrid.”
The defender leaves for a free transfer after he has mutually agreed to terminate his contract.
His exit is part of the current process of Real Madrid to reform their academy, because players are looking for opportunities to make the leap to professional football.
