Newcastle has endured a frustrating summer on the transfer market and now seem to miss James Trafford, with Man City in conversations to sign the Burnley goalkeeper
Newcastle is still an important setback in the field of transfer confronted with their long -term objective, James Trafford, now probably again in Manchester City.
The magpies have been with Trafford for more than 12 months, 22 and came close to closing a deal for the Burnley goalkeeper last summer. The conversations about a switch were generated earlier this summer, despite the promotion of the Clarets to the Premier League with Newcastle in pole position to conquer a deal for the young person.
Unfortunately for Newcastle, Manchester City has a return clause as part of the deal that brought Trafford to Turf Moor in the summer of 2023.
And with uncertainty about the future of Ederson, City is now in conversation with Burnley and favorites to sign Trafford.
As described by the Telegraph, the not signing Trafford would represent a seventh summer transfer Snub for Newcastle, which has missed many of their top goals.
Liam Delap and Joao Pedro belonged to the players who wanted to sign Newcastle to strengthen their attack, only for both to join Chelsea.
Bryan Mbeumo was also identified as a primary target after a stellar season with Brentford. But the Cameroon Star, just like another target in Matheus Cunha, has agreed to become a member of Manchester United.
Newcastle also missed a deal for Dean Huijsen who exchanged Bournemouth for Real Madrid, while their chances of signing Hugo Ekitike in smoke now that Liverpool progresses in conversations to sign the Frenchman.
The failure of not beating the signature of Trafford after weeks of conversations would mean that Newcastle is missing a seventh transfer, target white during what a bad summer balk has been for the Toon Army.
Eddie Howe sheds some light on Newcastle's frustrations in the transfer market after the 4-0 loss of Saturday against Celtic in a friendly one. The boss of Magpies said: “My wish was that we will do our company early and we certainly tried it, but that wasn't.
“We had a frustrating time to lose goals to other clubs. I would have been very open with that. That happened several times. You just have to accept it. To make a transfer really work, the player must, in my opinion, be desperate to come to your club. If we don't get that, the transfer doesn't work.
“We are looking for players who are good enough, who are desperate to come, and that can make the difference that they are scarce for us. We are convinced that we can try to get more players to strengthen the depth of the team. We are sure that we should do that and we try to do as hard as possible.”
