Manchester United is strongly connected to a step to bring EMI Martinez to Old Trafford in the summer transfer window, but the goalkeeper has received some home truths
Emile Heskey has warned Emi Martinez that he would participate in a “club in crisis” if he got his wish and get a dream summer transfer to Manchester United – even if he understands the temptation of such a movement.
Martinez, 32, has been strongly connected in recent weeks after speculation with a move to Old Trafford that he is leaving Aston Villa this summer. And recent reports have indicated that the Argentina International would like to take such a step, although Villa is in force in a position, since he signed a new five -year contract last year.
United last season passed their worst Premier League campaign and, unlike Villa, could not offer Martinez European Football if he became a member.
But although Heskey emphasizes that the Red Devils are currently in a precarious position, he acknowledged that the challenge to turn things around in a club of United's status would undoubtedly rely.
He told BestBettingsites.co.uk.: “I can see why people would say it is a step down, but it is interesting. You have to remember that Manchester United is even a huge club now, and they will be huge if they finally have it right again.
“They will be in a different universe if that happens. So for EMI I don't think it's a step if he gets that step to Manchester United, but he can't fool himself. He would go to a club in crisis right now. Does he want that?”
Heskey continued that few players, Bar Bruno Fernandes, have treated the pressure to represent United during such a turbulent period in their history.
He added: “The pressure on the players to perform now is too much for nine out of 10 players. Only Bruno Fernandes has reassured and embraced, while others have disappeared.”
Although it is still too considered whether United will move to Martinez before the transfer window closes on 1 September, there is uncertainty about Andre Onana's position after another not convincing season between the posts.
United has also been associated with other keepers, including Senne Lammens from Antwerp, who is said to be a long -term objective for the Red Devils.
The 23-year-old Belgian was first connected to United in January and the interest in the young person was apparently cheerful, although it is still to be seen whether the club will give priority to the signing of a new keeper, given that they have limited funds to play with this summer.
