Top 3 UFC stars Dustin Poirier never got to fight in the Octagon ranked ahead of UFC 318 retirement

Dustin Poirier fought just about everyone in his 40-Fight career-bijna everyone.

The former UFC -Interim -light weight champion will put down the gloves this weekend while he enters his pension fight against BMF champion Max Holloway on UFC 318. It is a home game for Poirier in New Orleans, Louisiana.

From featherweight to lightweight, Poirier has shared the Octagon with many murderers, more than once, such as Holloway, whom he fights for the third time on Saturday.

Poirier had two fights with Justin Gaethje and Eddie Alvarez and three fights with Conor McGregor. Poirier in particular challenged and champion Khabib Nurmagomedov, Islam Makhachev and Charles Oliveira, with 0-3 in undisputed title fights.

Fighting in almost two decades, not many selection names 'The Diamond' have not come across. But if you look closer to Poirier's CV, you will see that a fight or two slid through the cracks.

3. Prime Tony Ferguson

Dustin Poirier vs. Tony Ferguson was a dream fight for many.

At his Prime, Ferguson was lost in 2019 on a 12-field win in 2019. Neither Ferguson nor Poirier lost in 2017 or 2018, with the interim champions at the top of their matches.

In 2020, Poirier and Ferguson were finally offered a fight against each other on UFC 254, on the same card as Khabib Nurmagomedov vs. Justin Gaethje. However, Poirier did not refuse when he and the UFC did not undergo during the negotiations.

When I asked Ferguson for a potential fight with Poirier in 2022, Ferguson said that Poirier was 'full of s -' because he had previously rejected him.

2. Ilia Topuria

Poirier is a fan favorite Ilia Topuria will not get hold of.

Poirier and the new UFC Lightweight Champion Topuria are two of the best boxers in the division. Topuria has defeated the will of Alexander Volkanovski, Max Holloway and Charles Oliveira, all by brutal knockout.

Stylistically they have the potential to deliver an absolutely electric fight on the feet.

But Poirier has said time and time again, his MMA pension decision is final after Holloway this Saturday.

1. Nate Diaz

Poirier vs. Nate Diaz is a fight that has been mentioned for a long time, but never originated.

Diaz and Poirier signed to fight each other on UFC 230 in what was one of the most expected fights of 2018.

Diaz had an iconic faceoff with Poirier, but was not so interested in fighting him after Khabib Nurmagomedov vs. Conor McGregor was announced for UFC 229.

Although there were some questions about whether Diaz would reach the fight, it was Poirier who withdrew from the competition due to a hip injury.

Diaz keeps trolling Poirier because they are pulling themselves out of their fight to this day.

Poirier has campaigned to fight Diaz on a few different occasions, but if Diaz is currently not a free agent.
