The newest signing of Manchester United has revealed why he came to the club in his first words since his £ 71 million move from Brentford was confirmed.
Byran Mbeumo as officially a united player, with the Red Devils who confirm his move on Monday evening, almost two months since they submitted their first bid for the Cameroon attacker.
Mbeumo, 25, made it clear that he only wanted to become a member of United, although he came under pressure from Brentford to listen to a rival range from Tottenham. There was also interest from Arsenal and Newcastle, while Chelsea is supposed to have made a late attempt to hijack the deal in the last two weeks of negotiations.
It is said that United is unhappy with Brentford for dragging the conversations and changing their appreciation-on a certain moment raising their demand for £ 70 million plus £ 7 million in add-ons. It is also assumed that they have put pressure on Mbeumo to lower its wage requirements, so that United could offer greater transfer costs.
However, there is relief around Old Trafford that they have finally caught a player who has on average an impressive 18 target contributions per season since the promotion of Brentford to the top.
There was a point where it was thought that Mbeumo could possibly go somewhere else, but the attacker himself revealed that there was little doubt in his own mind when he heard of United's interest.
Mbeumo said: 'As soon as I knew there was a chance to become a member of Manchester United, I had to take the opportunity to draw for the club of my dreams; The team whose shirt I was wearing growing up.
'My mentality is to always be better than yesterday. I know that I have the spirit and character to reach a different level here, to learn from Ruben Amorim and play together with players of World Class.
'Everyone told me about the environment created here and how exciting the plans are for the future. This is a huge club, with an incredible stadium and great fans, we are all really determined to challenge the biggest trophies. '
Jason Wilcox, director of the United, added: 'Bryan's goals and assists record in the Premier League is exceptional, his remarkable consistency has put him the last three seasons among the most productive players in England.
'Bryan's belief in our project and determination to become a member of the club confirmed that he fits perfectly with Manchester United and the culture that we develop. We are pleased that we have protected one of our primary goals prior to the tour for the season.
“The experience in the US will be the perfect opportunity for Bryan to work with Ruben and his new teammates while we are preparing for an exciting season.”
Mbeumo will participate in his new teammates on the American tour for the season when the team is flying to Chicago this week. He could get his first chance to impress his new colors against West Ham on Sunday.
This summer he came out as a top objective for United after the club only scored 44 Premier League objectives in 2024-25-Hun lowest single-season Tally ever in the Re-Branded Top flight.
