Atletico Madrid get green light from Chelsea talent for €40m move

Atletico Madrid closes a movement for Chelsea defender Renato Veiga, with the two clubs that discuss a deal. The versatile Portuguese defender seems to be the Colchonero -pick to strengthen their backline, after they have gone further through their pursuit of the Cristian Romero from Tottenham Hotspur.

The Argentina -International was called the 'Dream' certificate this summer, but with Spurs who did not want to admit a rumors of € 70 million asking price, it seems that they have decided that a deal would be too expensive. After their defense crumbled in the crucial phase of last season, atletico would like to add further reinforcements on top of Robin Le Normand.

The news of a possible relocation for Veiga Brak on Saturday and Florian Plettenberg has reported that personal conditions are about to be done. Bayern Munich has previously been cited as one of the other teams interested in Veiga, was not allowed to perspire a movement.

In the meantime, Matteo Moretto says that Veiga has already said yes to participation in Atletico Madrid, even if the conditions still have to be ironed between both player and club.

The finer conditions still have to be hammered between Atletico and Chelsea, but with the Club World Cup champions open for a sale, it seems that Los Rojiblancos has a decent chance to get a deal. L'Equipe says that a second offer of € 35 million has been made for Veiga, but the consensus is that Chelsea wants at least € 40 million, even if that includes some variables.

Part of the idea of their pursuit of Romero was to bring in a leader who could immediately increase the level of the Atletico -Backline. Veiga may do this, but represents a nod to the future and an investment in potential, rather than giving priority to immediate proven performance.
