Liverpool is about to sign Hugo Eintracht Frankfurt for £ 79 million and Reds -Baas Arne Slot played a key role in convincing the player to participate
Hugo Ekitike comes to Liverpool after a relocation of £ 79 million, after he was convinced to become a member of the club after conversations with manager Arne Slot. This summer, Ekitike will be the seventh new signing of Liverpool, with the Reds agreing to pay £ 69 million in advance plus £ 10 million to add-ons.
The 23-year-old will lead the border for Liverpool next season, with Eintracht Frankfurt boss Dino Toppmoller who admits his exit is a “bitter loss” after Ekitike was omitted on Saturday for their pre-season-friendly against FSV Frankfurt.
“He didn't play, but you can imagine all the other,” said Toppmoller. “This is a bitter loss. We lost our absolute top player in the winter with Omar Marmoush. The other player stepped in and developed sensational. It is quite possible that that is also history. So I think we should pent expectations in general.”
Newcastle was also interested in Ekitike, but left their chase after the attacker made it clear that he only wanted to become a member of Liverpool. And ESPN reports that the lock was that Ekitike convinced that Anfield was the right destination for him.
The report states that Slot spoke with the player about Zoom and explained how Ekitike fitted in his plans, whereby the Dutchman wants to sign a 'mobile and dynamic No. 9 that could combine sparkle on the ball with tenacity and intelligence'.
It is claimed that Ekitike had the feeling that he was the 'perfect fit' after he had spoken with the Liverpool and the report quotes a source as saying that slot took out a “master class”. It adds that there were some worries about whether the player was ready to make a big move.
Ekitike came to Paris Saint-Germain van Reims three years ago and struggled to make a lot of impact, but he has cheered up his career at Frankfurt and it is claimed that Liverpool is convinced that he is ready to make the step.
Liverpool spent a great deal this summer, because they want to build on a successful first season, which saw the Premier League win. They also signed Florian Wirtz, Milos Kerkez, Jeremie Frimpong, Giorgi Mhamardashvili, Armin Pecsi and Freddie Woodman.
Liverpool also took care of the future of Captain Virgil van Dijk and Sterman Mohamed Salah earlier this year, in which the couple signed both new deals, although they could not convince Trent Alexander-Arnold to stay.
However, Liverpool is convinced that their summer company will ensure that they remain competitive for years, with every new addition, apart from Woodman under the age of 25.
