Nottingham Forest has blocked Tottenham's attempts to sign Morgan Gibbs-White after accusing them of making an illegal approach to the English international.
Nottingham Forest is so unhappy with Tottenham's approach for Morgan Gibbs-White that they would rather sell him to a rival than to have him added to Spurs. Tottenham thought they would sign the English international after they had linked his £ 60 million clause earlier this month.
Forest, however, reacted furiously and accused traces of making an illegal approach for Gibbs-White, writing a letter of complaints to both Tottenham and the Premier League. The deal has stopped as a result and the future of Gibbs-White stays in the air.
According to a new report from the Daily Mail, Forest would rather “sell him to a rival club” instead of traces. The report states that Forest was open to gibbs-white to leave, because he 'resisted' the club's attempts to have him sign a new deal.
However, they are 'unhappy with how Spurs dealt with their approach' and it is still to be seen whether other clubs will take a step for the 25-year-old. Manchester City was interested in Gibbs-White earlier this summer, but instead she drew Rayan Cherki van Lyon instead.
A separate report from Talksport claims that Gibbs-White Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis has informed that he would “leave the city ground only for a certain level of club” and the Greek businessman does not believe that traces are in that category.
The report adds that Tottenham could still revive the deal, but Gibbs-White returned to action for Bos in their pre-season-friendly against Monaco on Saturday. He did not travel with the team for their pre-season tour through Portugal because of a “personal issue”.
In the meantime, Forest is one of a large number of clubs that weigh a move for James McATEE, which last month England to the victory over 21 euros under 21 euros. West Ham, Borussia Dortmund and Eintracht Frankfurt would also be interested in the 22-year-old.
Mcatee played 27 times in all matches for City last season, but only nine of those had started and with his contract that ended in 2026, manager Pep Guardiola admitted that the player will probably leave Etihad this summer.
“I didn't allow him to play for minutes, so I can't ask anything from the players who don't play many minutes,” Guardiola said in April. “They can do better? No. Macca has this quality, the opportunity to create.
“He is there. The game worked better against Palace, you create opportunities. Macca close to the box is quite similar to Phil. They are there, a feeling. It is difficult to train, to make that movement because the ball comes. If he plays for minutes, he will score.
“Before the age I would like him to stay. But I understand that the players want more minutes. I would like him to stay, he is a player for the academy, he knows the patterns. He is a nice person and is really well trained. He can play different positions, but I don't know what the team will be and we will see.”
