UFC legend Dustin Poirier shared an emotional message to mixed martial arts only a few days after his pension fight.
Dustin Poirier was previously celebrated, during and after his last UFC fight on UFC 318 last Saturday in New Orleans. After a legendary career with victories on some of the greatest fighters in the UFC, Poirier dropped his gloves in the Octagon under another huge spotlight while officially announced his retirement.
Since Poirier left the Arena in New Orleans, many around mixed martial arts have sent congratulatory messages to the legend, including some of his former opponents. In the hours after UFC 318, Poirier had time to think about his career after his unanimous decision loss for Max Holloway in his last Octagon performance.

While Poirier starts his journey to put more energy and effort in life outside the Octagon, he shared a final 'thank you' with mixed martial arts.
In a recent Instagram post, Poirier shared his last message on the sport so that he could make his dreams realized.
“Letter to the game,” Poirier started.
“Thank you for having a child to chase a dream. Thank you for the lessons. Thank you for the heartache. Thank you for a platform to raise others. When I started, I wanted to know how good I can be, and I found out.
“I am grateful forever that I have followed this path and the lessons I have learned will be with me until my heart stops. I am not sure what the next step is, but I will do what you have taught me, confidently continue to run in the unknown.
“With kind regards El Diamante.”
Poirier withdraws as one of the largest UFC hunters who never have a linear title in the history of promotion. He made his promotion debut at UFC 125 and beat Josh Grispi by unanimous decision.

Poirier is as close as you can get to a sure-things ufc hall of famer, and he'll likely be inducted either next year or in 2027. He'll Join the likes of khabib nurmagomedov, daniel cormier, and owth or femendary names.
Poirier heard from his triple rival, Conor McGregor, after his retirement on UFC 318. While McGregor started his social media message with a touch of cordiality, he ended it with a subtle puncture near Poirier.
Then Poirier could appear as a UFC analyst and join Paul Felder, Chael Sonnen and Cormier.
