From a Parisian talent to a Bundesliga defender

NSOKI started his football career at the US Roissy-en-Brie before moving to the Paris Saint-Germain Youth Academy in 2012. There he went through all the youth and made his debut for the professional team in December 2017 in a league match against SM Caen. With PSG, Nsoki won two French championships, a cup, one competition cup and one super cup, in addition to other awards.

Looking for regular playing time, NSOKI moved to League Rivals OGC Nice in August 2019. After two years in Ligue 1, he took the next step in the summer of 2021 and signed for the Belgian Club Brugge of the First Division Club. In his first season in Belgium – a year in which he settled as a normal player and the Belgian championship and super cup – he made 31 performances in the competition, three in the cup and six in the UEFA Champions League

A year later, Nsoki moved to Germany to become a member of TSG 1899 Hoffenheim, who already played for Bruges in the first two league games of the new season. He made his Bundesliga debut in Borussia Mönchengladbach in the first game of the season and came up as a replacement for Diadié Samassékou in the 24th minute.

Due to injury, Nsoki only sporadic appearances appeared in his debut season in the Bundesliga. His goal for Hoffenheim at home against Bayer 04 Leverkusen, on 11 February 2023, was not only his first for his new club, but also his first as a professional football player. NSOKI is now coming to Berlin with 52 Bundesliga performances under his belt.

Three facts about Stanley

His mother, who always attached great importance to exercise, encouraged him and his three sisters to participate in sporting activities. This is how he came to football through a club forum.

NSOKI grew up in Roissy-en-Brie, a municipality in the metropolitan area of Paris (ÃŽle-de-France), which is also known as the birth city of Paul Pogba.

In addition to football, he is also interested in basketball. During a holiday in Los Angeles, he attended an NBA game – especially enjoying the show around the game.

Responses to the loan

“The club has a clear identity, fights with heart and conviction, and that is exactly what suits me,” said Nsoki about the completion of his loan agreement with Union. “I feel the confidence here that I can contribute something with my playing style. For me this is the right step to continue my development in a special environment and at the same time give everything for the success of the team,” said Center-back Stanley Nsoki when signing his contract.

Horst Heldt, director of professional football for men on 1. FC Union Berlin, commented on the loan: “Stanley not only brings international experience from top competitions, but also exactly the qualities that we appreciate at Union: he is strong in duels, focused and versatile. As soon as he has recovered from his injury, he will make our defense more.”
