Benjamin Sesko has been extensively scouted by Manchester United and one of the most important recruitment figures of the club leads the lead for the RB Leipzig striker this summer
Manchester United could sign Benjamin Sesko after RB Leipzig reportedly reduced their asking price for the rush hour. United has splashed £ 133.5 million to sign Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo in the summer transfer window, but is still lacking in a center output.
United led a pathetic total of 44 goals when they finished 15th in the Premier League last season, where Rasmus Hojlund was only in the competition four times. Ruben Amorim knows that they need reinforcements this summer and have moved to land two of the most exciting attackers of the competition in Cunha van Wolves and Mbeumo from Brentford.
Mirror Football understands that, after negotiations about Mbeumo who emerged, there is a feeling that United can start the Premier League season on 17 August without a new striker. The club was beaten against Liam Delap by Chelsea, to Hugo Ekitike by Liverpool and Viktor Gyokeres by Arsenal.
And although there is interest in Chelsea's Nicolas Jackson and Paris Saint-Germain's Randal Kolo Muani, there could still be a spark of hope for United in the form of Sesko, which is available at Leipzig.
Arsenal had initially preferred a move for Sesko above Gyokees – partly due to the fact that he is five years younger – but they withdrew from the transfer with Leipzig who demanded a reimbursement between £ 68 million and £ 85 million.
However, Bild now reports that a reimbursement of approximately € 70 million (£ 60 million) could be sufficient to get a deal for Sesko, who achieved 13 goals in the Bundesliga last season. The head of United of Scouting Christopher Vivell has been to keep an eye on him personally and is considered a big fan of the Slovenian attacker.
Sesko is under contract with Leipzig until June 2029 and scored 21 goals in 45 games in all competitions last season. The 22-year-old is not agitating for a move, as his agent explained earlier this summer.
Asked for rumors that he had lobby lobby to lower their asking price, Elvis Basanovic said: “This is far from the truth. We respect RB Leipzig and I am 100 percent convinced that RB Leipzig will also respect our decision for the next step when we do it.
“I believe this is not the right way, because the way you actually go out of the club shows your values. Values that you bring to a new club. I understand it in very large transfers, there are many different interests, but what, I believe in the football world should be more respect.
“So that's why we do things in the right way or we don't do them. It's very simple, even in the media it looks very complicated.”
