Alexander Isak has told Newcastle that he wants to be from St James' park – but Manchester United will not take a step for the Swedish striker
Manchester United has excluded a movement for Alexander Isak – despite the desire of the striker to leave Newcastle.
Isak has been omitted from the Newcastle team for their tour for the season through Singapore and South Korea after they have informed the club about his wish to move this summer.
United needs a striker and Sweden International Isak would be the ideal suitable for Ruben Amorim's side, but the £ 150 million appreciation of Newcastle has priced a movement for him.
Liverpool retains an interest in Isak, even though he had rejected a first approach by Newcastle and although they have signed Hugo Eintracht Frankfurt for £ 69 million.
The top clubs of Europe have been aware of a few weeks of 25-year-old Isak's wish to leave Newcastle and bring his career elsewhere to a new level.
Isak has scored 62 goals of 109 games for Newcastle and became one of the most sought after strikers in world football since he came to Real Sociedad for £ 63 million in 2022.
But United cannot afford the asking price of Newcastle, in particular who has already spent £ 133.5 million on signing Matheus Cunha van Wolves and Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford.
The same applies to Chelsea's Nicolas Jackson and RB Leipzig's Benjamin Seksso, whose asking price – both are appreciated at around £ 70 million – has ruled United for them.
Marcus Rashford's seasonal loan to Barcelona has opened some headroom for United, where the Spanish club completely covers its wages, a figure of a total of around 12 million.
But United remains bound by profit and sustainability rules [PSR]who have limited their ability to spend Feely and whose borders they are determined to stay inside.
Senior figures at United have no further signing sessions excluded prior to sales, but the immediate focus is on sending players to generate income for newcomers.
The exit from Rashford to Barca was the start of that process, where United now wants to discharge Alejandro Garnacho, Jadon Sancho, Antony and Tyrrell Malacia.
Chelsea retains an interest in signing wing player Garnacho, who wants to move to Stamford Bridge, which opens the scope for a potential Swap deal in which Jackson is involved.
Juventus was able to move to Sancho, while Antony was able to join Real Betis – where he spent the second half of last season on loan – and also pulled interest from Atletico Madrid.
