Aston Villa are set to offer new deal to key man – as Unai Emery fights off interest from Champions League giants

Lucas Digne will be offered a contract extension by Aston Villa after positive conversations with the French International.

The current deal of the 32-year-old ends at the end of the season, but Boss Unai Emery remains a big fan and is convinced that Digne can remain an important player for Villa in the coming seasons.

Digne was on the radar of Atletico Madrid earlier in the summer and was open to moving to a Champions League club, especially with the World Cup that took place in America next summer.

But although Digne's Fellow Left Back Ian Maatsen was given an increased playing time at the end of last season, Digne is strong in Emery's plans while trying to return Villa to the European main club competition.

Villa reached the quarterfinals in previous term, but had to settle for a place in the Europa League in the campaign campaign after he had missed by a mustache hair on a top five finish.

DIGNE made 32 Premier League performances for the Villans in 2024-25, starting in 28 of those competitions.

Since he was signed with Everton for £ 25 million in 2021, he has been an important player in the defense of Villa, with his strong performances that regularly deliver to his national team.

If Villa – as expected – can protect Digne, it would be another positive development after they had also agreed a new deal with Boubacar Kamara on Thursday.

The midfielder, who was signed three years ago on a free transfer of Marseille, agreed a contract until the summer of 2030.

In three seasons with the Claret and Blue, Kamara made 97 performances.
