UFC Abu Dhabi co-headliner Petr Yan still believes in his return to the top, even if his countryman Khabib Nurmagomedov may not.
Yan has pursued a second stint on the Bantamweight throne since a disqualification against Aljamain Sterling in 2021 he stuck it without mercy.
Although Yan's victory over Cory Sandhagen saw him touching UFC Gold again, it was just an interim strap. Three straight defeats followed, leaving the Russian for a period of the championship comparison for a period.
That run apparently 'no grace' on the CUSP to be part of the Nurmagomedov statement that hunters have only one peak in MMA, with Yan's title -winning performance against Jose Aldo who might mark his.
But in the midst of his constant revival, Yan fights to prove his countryman that it is wrong.
Petr Yan does not agree with the statement of Khabib Nurmagomedov. No hunter can have 'two peaks' in MMA
Since Yan was dominated by Merab Dvalishvili in March 2023, the former champion has won two fights on the jump. A victory over the highly regarded song Yadong put the Russian back on the right path before a main event triumph over the first two -time flying weight King Deiveson Figueiredo brought him back to the title mix.
In a piece of matchmaking, yan will then be at Marcus Mcghee at the UFC Abu Dhabi event on Saturday. Despite the low position of his opponent in the pecking order, 'no Mercy' hopes that a victory has a chance of championship release.
And if he noticed himself with the Bantamweight King, Yan expects to deliver a result that Nurmagomedov may not predict.
“That is Khabib's “Let him hold on to it.
“I don't know how to say if you are at your peak. You have to feel or show it.
“I feel that I have everything to get there,” Yan added.
Merab Dvalishvili was shocked by the next fight by Petr Yan
Count the reigning UFC Bantamweight champion among those who are surprised by Yan's upcoming matchup.
During an interview with Helen Yee, Dvalishvili responded to Yan vs. Mcghee and shocked the game, since he expected the Russian to stand in line for a rematch against him for the title.
“It's a tough test for Petr Yan,” said Dvalishhvili.
“Wow … I thought he fought for the belt, and now he has to fight against another competition. That means that our division is very stuck. It is not easy to fight for the belt.
“Good luck for him,” DvalishVili added. “Of course I will encourage him (for). We fight, I always share (support) with the man I fought. So it will be a tough test for him, but I am sure he will get it.”
