Arsenal transfer news: Hidden costs of VG14 deal as star reveals reason to join

Viktor Gyokees is about to complete a transfer to Arsenal, just a few days after the Gunners confirmed a deal for Crithic Mosquera while they are preparing for the new season

In just three weeks, Arsenal starts their campaign to finally win the Premier League title. The Gunners finished second three times in a row and hope to go out better in 2025/26.

Mikel Arteta finally seems to have a striker available to his case with Viktor Gyokeres about to be announced as the last signing of Arsenal. The Gunners have already added Martin Zubimendi, Noni Madueke, Christian Norgaard, Kepa Arrizabalaga and Crithian Mosquera.

Andrea Berta has been busy in his first summer as sports director of Arsenal and some of his rigorous work will have come in progress for Gyokees. The Sweden International can be unveiled this weekend.

There is still work to be done if Arsenal seems to turn on players. Reiss Nelson was able to make his exit out of the club, just like Oleksandr Zinchenko, while Arteta takes his team in shape.

Mirror Football takes a look at the latest transfer news and rumors around the Emirates.

Gyokees bonus payments

The arrival of Viktor Gyokers in Arsenal will be confirmed after a number of serious negotiations between the Gunners and Sporting CP. The bonus payments had offered some position between clubs, but have now been agreed.

Reports in Portugal, witness per sport, have detailed when those bonuses are required. For every 20 games played (of 45 minutes or more), Sporting receives € 1.25 million (£ 1.09 million), up to € 5 million (£ 4.36 million).

For every 20 goals and assistes that Gyökeres scores, the Gunners must pay € 500k (£ 440,000), up to a limit of € 1 million (£ 880,000). And when Arsenal reaches the regular phase of the Champions League, Sporting receives € 1 million, up to a limit of € 4 million (£ 3.49 million).

Who convinced Mosquera?

Crithian Mosquera has revealed that both Andrea Berta and Mikel Arteta played crucial roles to convince him that Arsenal was the right club for him. The defender joined the Gunners from Valencia in a deal that was initially worth £ 13 million.

“They were an important part of the decision,” said Mosquera. “When the coach and sports director show that belief in you and you feel that connection in first conversations, it really helped me to get here.

“I came to a huge club with great expectations and a real wish to keep growing and improving. I want to help my teammates and help this great team. That is my goal.”

Silva comments Overnelson

Fulham -Baas Marco Silva has discussed the interest of the Fulham to sign Reiss Nelson. The wing player was on loan at the club last season and speculation mounted a return for the 25-year-old.

“Nelson was with us last season, he was very bad luck in terms of his injury record last season,” Silva said in an interview with Sky Sports News. “Maybe at his best moment of the season, he had a bad injury that broke the momentum of him.

“But he is not our player now, he is an Arsenal player, so I'm not going to talk about players from another club.”
