Arsenal has confirmed the signing of sporty striker Viktor Gyokeres.
The Gunners pay the Portuguese club a guaranteed reimbursement of £ 55 million (€ 63 million), plus £ 8.5 million (€ 10 million) in add-ons, where Gyokeres joins a five-year deal.
Bringing in a striker is a primary focus for Arsenal in this transfer window with conditions investigated for various players, including RB Leipzig's Benjamin Sesko.
Sky Sports News reported in June that Gyokeres was a target of Manchester United after they had achieved a first approach for him through intermediaries.
Last month, sporting president Frederico Varandas, who would not be allowed to leave Gyokeres this summer for less than £ 59 million (€ 70 million) after combating the existence of a 'men's agreement' with the agent of the Swede that would allow him for a fixed fee of £ 50.8 million (€ 60 m), plus £ 8.4 m (€ 10).
After he arrived at Sporting from Coventry City for around £ 20 million in 2023, Gyokeres scored an incredible 97 goals in just 102 games during his two seasons in the Portuguese capital.
Gyokees scored 54 goals in just 52 games in all the last campaign, including a hat trick against Manchester City in the Champions League, while helping winning the competition and the Portuguese Cup.
Gyokeres sees a move to Arsenal to English football, after he joined Brighton & Hove Albion in January 2018, before moving to Coventry after Leen Proverbs in St Pauli and Swansea City.
Gyokeres scored 43 goals for Coventry in his two and a half seasons with the championship side.
Coventry receives a little more than £ 4 million because of a clause of 10 percent sales and Brighton is also owed a small amount for the deal that they corresponded to selling him.
The sale of Coventry was originally 15 percent, but they sold five percent back to athletes last summer for an unknown amount.
Analysis: Is the missing piece or a gamble from Gyokeres Arsenal?
For years the football world Arsenal called on to sign a striker and the Gunners have finally responded.
The move will be a striking one for the Premier League – no player in Europe's top eight divisions corresponded to the 39 league goals of Gyokeres for Sporting last season and it could herald the arrival of another elite goal scorer for the division.
But it is even more important for Arsenal, given their editions under Mikel Arteta.
Gyokees part of the busy summer in Arsenal
Developments around Gyokeres are amid a busy summer of income in Arsenal.
They announced the signing of midfielder Martin Zubimendi van Real Sociedad in a £ 51 million deal and another central midfielder, Christian Norgaard, arrived from Brentford for £ 15 million.
Spaniard Kepa Arrizabalaga was signed for £ 5 million from Chelsea, followed by a £ 52 million deal for Noni Madueke.
Arsenal also confirmed the signing of the Valencia defender Crisphian Mosquera in a first £ 13 million deal.
