Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt Marcus Buchecha was demonstrated that MMA needs several dimensions in his Octagon debut at UFC Abu Dhabi.
The 13-time gold medal winner and ADCC champion Buchecha had a lot of hype in his first UFC performance and arrived with a 5-1 record. That was his status in the grab world, he was placed in the Octagon with number 13 heavyweight Martin Buday, which only lost once in the large competitions.
And Buchecha got a rude awakening while struggling on the feet and gasped on his way to a difficult defeat within an hour and a half. And fans on social media were brutal in response, so that the often over used 'fraud control' detector was dusted.
Martin Buday beats Marcus Buchecha at UFC Abu Dhabi
From the opening bell of UFC Abu Dhabi it became clear that Buday's plan was to stack on the pressure on the feet. He immediately ran over the Octagon and flew inside which would probably be a knee, although he would pull him before he actually threw.
Buchecha's gripping capacity was certainly seen on various points in the night, especially in the second, because he did well to get the fight to the ground. He was filled during the first and was eventually successful.
In the third, however, Buday again took control when Buchecha seemed to be fully spent. For some reason, Buday, after the Brazilian has entered into several options to go to a knee, decided to struggle with him in his own exhausted state towards the end of the game.
Fortunately, a late push from Buchecha was not enough to undo Buday's hard work and he ended the fight at the top. All three judges had the fight 29-28 for the ranked heavyweight, which is now on a three-Fight win-streak.
Fans believe that Marcus Buchecha 'Fraud was checked' in UFC Abu Dhabi Defeat
Although it is always premature after just one overwhelming fight to call a hunter a 'fraud', it does not prevent users of social media to be brutal in their reviews. And Buchecha received the victim of it, with many fans who a 'fraud control' branding the victory 'branding.
“Marcus Buchecha is a fraud,” wrote a furious fan. “Complete fraud. Come up for your first UFC event and gas out in 1.5 rounds … Buchecha had 2 minutes his back and had no 1 entry attempts? Full fraud checked for UFC Abu Dhabi.”
Others were critical in the same way, where a user said that he had to “stick to BJJ” after he was exposed in the cage.
