Gyokeres gives Gunners extra edge as they look to gain Premier League glory

Dynamic striker Viktor Gyokeres' arrival in Arsenal could be the perfect solution for their attacking needs prior to the new Premier League campaign, while the Gunners offer to end their long title of drought.

The Swedish Center-Forward signed on Saturday from Sporting CP in a deal with a value of up to 73.5 million euros, while Arsenal is looking for the key to unlock a first competition crown since 2004.

Although the side of Mikel Arteta is defensively sustainable, they sometimes missed offensive thrust when they came in second in the top flight behind Liverpool and reached the semi -final of the Champions League.

Last season, the Spanish coach often deployed midfielders Kai Havertz and Mikel Merino, especially after Gabriel Jesus was sidelined by injuries in January.

The impressive gyokeres, strong, fast and a constant rising threat, is a new type of tool for one side that is advanced in the future.

After a move to Brighton fell flat and did not succeed in making a Premier League performance, Gyokees in Coventry City in the English championship.

He earned a switch to Sport in 2023 and his game continued to grow quickly.

“I'm sure … at the same table (as the world's best strikers),” the attacker told L'Equipe earlier this month, and compared himself with Harry Kane, Erling Haaland and Robert Lewandowski.

The 27-year-old striker yielded 97 goals in 102 games in all matches for the Portuguese giants, so that Sporting helped to win the competition title in both seasons in the club.

The man behind the mask: everything you need to know about Viktor Gyokees

Gyokeres rarely lets the defenders rest, with his movement a problem for opponents, who are dragged around and struggle to keep up while he breaks behind.

The attacker celebrates his goals by making a mask with his hands, which he has indicated in reference to the Brutal Batman -Schurk Bane, who represents his physical competence and deadly finish.

The presence of Gyokeres should alleviate the load on winger Bukayo Saka, who is often the target to stop as the man of Arsenal and give the English international more room to operate in.

Given its excellent shape in the past two seasons, it feels like the right time for the striker to make the leap to one of Europe's upper sides.

Arteta wants 'the best players'

Sporty President Frederico Varandas threatened the attacker with a fine when he refused to appear during the training for the season and tried to force his transfer.

In the end, Gyokees got what he wanted, and finally Arsenal also, after failure with movements for Ollie Watkins from Aston Villa in January and Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig earlier this summer, in addition to other reported operations.

“In the Premier League we went a step back … It is clear that we have not done as well as last season, that is clear,” said Arteta in May, who for signing attacking stars.

“I want the best team, the best players. If we have three target scorers of more than 25 (each goals), they bring in and we will be a much better team.

“I think if you score more than 90 goals, you have a high, good chance of winning the Premier League.”

Gyokeres hit 54 in 52 games last season, only ended behind Real Madrid's Kylian Mbappe in the European Golden Shoe classification and defeated Liverpool's Mohamed Salah.

The striker delivered more goals from the top than Mbappe, but because of the system -based system, depending on the strength of their respective competitions, he finished behind the Frenchman.

“The Portuguese League is a very good competition, with many technical players – it may not be as physical as in England, but the level is really good,” said Gyokees, convinced that he will adapt to the Premier League.

A hat trick against Manchester City in the Champions League last season, because Sporting Pep Guardiola's silk hit 4-1 in November, suggests that he might be right.

Two of those goals, however, were fines and he scored a total of 19 Spot-Kicks in all competitions, with some questions if he really belongs in the top bracket of attackers.

Both Gyokees and Arsenal have Premier League points to prove in the upcoming 2025/26 campaign.
