Conor McGregor teases UFC comeback as he holds talks with Dana White and goads opponent

Conor McGregor has reignited the flames of a return to the UFC in a series of quickly deleted social media posts.

The Irishman has not fought since 2021, when he suffered a broken leg and lost to Dustin Poirier for the second time in their trilogy. He recovered from the injury years ago, but a broken toe cost him a return at UFC 303 this summer.

Now he appears to be back in training and insists he will return in 2025. He even named Michael Chandler as his opponent after previously claiming it would be in February against Dan Hooker in October.

Last night Conor McGregor took to X to share some nice words for his rivals, including Michael Chandler and even featherweight champion Ilia Topuria. He also claimed that the fighting game was “too easy” for him after winning multiple titles in the UFC at the age of 27.

He first wrote a message that read, “19 KOs in Pro MMA, that's none of my business, hear great chat Dana White, love your thinking!” He followed that up by noting that he's willing to fight “anywhere, anytime,” adding that “Dana knows.”

When Michael Chandler told him to try to add a KO number 20, he replied that they would fight next without mentioning a date. “Remember when you said in the cold bath during the TUF coaching challenge that I was going to be your twentieth?” Chandler asked. “Show up and try me.”

McGregor responded with a mocking tweet of his own, adding: “It's you! Just rest and I'll see you at the top.” He also tagged Dana White and used the hashtag “Man of my word.”

“Conor is coming back at the end of the 25th, so there's a lot of time for us to figure out who's going to fight Conor,” he said at the UFC 309 press conference last month. “There's no doubt that Conor wants to fight, he hits me all the time.

“I told you he probably wouldn't fight in 2024, and he didn't. He's going to fight in 2025, probably at the end of the year, if it's sooner that's good for all of us.” When asked why it would take so long, he said it's just “how it works out.”
