According to this Bantamweight legend, there is only one logical next assignment for UFC Abu Dhabi winner Petr Yan.
Yan has placed himself in a strong position when it comes to his ambitions of a second stint as 135 pound UFC champion.
For a while the Russian had fallen out of the conversation after losing three straight fights, but he has since been reflected with a profit streak of the same length.
And after the most recent victory over that current run last Saturday, a former champion sees only one thing in the future of Yan – Gold.
Henry Cejudo says that Petr Yan has earned another UFC title
Yan lost the UFC Bantamweight title via disqualification against Aljamain Sterling in 2021. Reports for 'Funk Master' in a rematch, Sean O'Malley, and Merab Dvalishvili followed, dented his hop on a return to the throne.
But Yan's UFC Abu Dhabi victory over Marcus Mcghee continued his revival. 'No Mercy' had already returned with strong versions against a few top 10 contenders in Song Yadong and Deiveson Figueiredo.
With that, the Russian wants to repeat his chance of repayment against Dvalishhvili or to repeat his interim title of 2021 on the next challenger of the Georgian, Cory Sandhagen.
Former two -division UFC King Henry Cejudo, for example, supports Yan's Claim on a shot.
“Petr Yan vs the winner of Merab/Sandhagen. Book the #ufcabudhabi,” wrote Cejudo on X.
Petr Yan claimed that he was guaranteed to receive a title shot before he accepted Marcus Mcghee fight
Yan may have already had the place that Cejudo throws before he insists on a return to UFC Abu Dhabi.
After the confusion of fans about the Mcghee -Matchup, Yan claimed that he was given a title shot against the winner of Dvalishvili vs. Sandhagen on UFC 320, but chose to risk that opportunity to stay active instead.
“I was told that I can wait and I will be the next one for the title, but I don't want to wait and I don't want to be inactive hunter,” Yan told Gorilla Energy. “I want to fight twice this year, if possible.
“I am ready to fight, I have spoken my desire and they found me an opponent. All hunters in the top five or even top 10 are now busy. Some of them have already planned fights. Some have other reasons.
“I just wanted to fight in July, they thought I was an opponent and I am ready,” he went on.
Yan was certainly ready, and now his sights are back on the UFC gold that he used to hold.
