Granit Xhaka goes back to the Premier League with Sunderland while the Bayer Leverkusen -star completes an exit after he has remained angry with Erik ten Hag's approach
Sunderland has concluded a deal with Bayer Leverkusen with which Granit Xhaka will return to the Premier League with the Black Cats – two years after leaving Arsenal.
The Swiss midfielder has become a German champion since he has gone, but will now make contact with the newly promoted side. Sunderland has protected its services in a deal of £ 17 million ,, £ 13 million of them that is paid in advance with a further £ 4 million to get into add-ons, according to several reports.
Xhaka corresponded to the club last week with the club prior to signing a three -year deal. Sunderland saw an earlier offer rejected, but increased their total package by £ 7 million to get the transfer over the line.
The switch means that Erik Ten Hag has lost another important figure at Leverkusen, even though it is not even in charge of a competitive match. The ex-manchester United boss was hired to replace Xabi Alonso, but has not loved himself by all his players.
Bild previously reported that Ten Hag made a deliberate attempt to give his new Leverkusen players time and space before he first contacts them. However, that approach was not universally received with Xhaka among those to the decision of the new manager to remain silent.
Ten Hag made contact with the former midfielder of Arsenal only three weeks after his appointment. That lack of communication saw the Swiss star questioning his future and he has since been chosen to search new. The former United boss tried to underline how important he was that the 32-year-old would be for his plans, but the damage was eventually caused.
Despite the apparently frustrating Xhaka with his approach, the Dutchman, who wants to prove himself after a bad end to his Stint in Manchester, challenging that the Swiss midfielder went nowhere, even though his agent had a deal with Sunderland.
Ten Hag said: “His agent can say what he wants, but this club already has already let three important players (Florian Wirtz, Jeremie Frimpong and Jonathan Tah) go, and we don't let anything go anymore,”
It is the last blow to the Bundesliga outfit, which have lost some of the leading lights that helped them claim the league title just over a year ago. Wirtz left in a British record deal for Liverpool, who has been ahead of Leverkusen more than £ 100 million. Frimpong followed him to Anfield. Tah made the switch to Rivals Bayern Munich.
With the huge funds, the German side managed to bring in Jarell Quansah from Liverpool with the defender very much. Malik Tillman is one of their most important signing sessions that makes the switch from PSV.
