Nottingham Forest Legend Stuart Pearce says that the decision of Morgan Gibbs-White to sign a new contract is a clear sign that the club is on the right track.
After weeks of speculation, Gibbs-White rejected a move to Tottenham and Champions League football to sign a new deal until 2028 with Forest during the weekend.
Speaking with Tribalfootball.com, Pearce says that the decision was crucial for Forest after the sale of Anthony Elanga to Newcastle United.
“I think that on the back of Elanga the football club leaves, which comes a real shock for me to be honest, the fans didn't need Gibbs white to leave,” he said.
“I have contact with many of the fans and I still have good links with Nottingham. The fans did not want to see Gibbs-White not leave the football club and I think that was huge to stay.
“They build something in Forest, so they don't have to take a step back, if you want. You know, the big football of football for them this year too, the first time in a very long time. And I think it is good that they have clearly convinced the player that his future, at least in the following year or so, will be in Nottingham Forest.
“And I think Nottingham Forest has also been a good club for him.
“Without a doubt. It's not just what he can do for Forest. Forest has been a good club for him to excel and play the football that I think he likes to play.”
