Barcelona has confirmed that captain Marc-Andre ter Stegen has undergone surgery for a recurring problem. There is many intrigues around his diagnosis, given the duration of his injury, there can have a major impact on Barcelona's ability to register new players in the coming month.
The German goalkeeper announced the decision last week and explained that he would be three months, a month for the required four months before Barcelona to activate La Liga's injury rule. That would enable them to use 80% of Ter Stegen's salary limit on a temporary basis, with new additions Roonon Bardghji, Marcus Rashford and Joan Garcia are currently not registered.
It means that their ability to do this can depend on the medical report written by surgeon Amelie Leglise, who operated on Ter Stegen on Tuesday. So much was confirmed by Barcelona, but they did not give a recovery period.
Last week it was suggested by another doctor that the announcement of Ter Stegen will have little impact on La Liga's statement. The Blaugrana now has 30 days to submit a report to La Liga, according to MD. Four members of the Medical Committee for La Liga will then give the green light to the competition on the report they receive, provided that they do not see any problems.
Barcelona was reportedly very unhappy with the announcement of Ter Stegen, considering the intentional sabotage of their plans, and questions about his captain for next season.
