Former Manchester United player Brandon Williams, who was convicted of dangerous driving, made his first performance in 19 months.
The full-back came up as a replacement for Hull City, where he stands, during their 2-1 friendly victory over Sunderland on Tuesday evening.
In May Williams was sentenced to 14 months, suspended for two years, after crashing his Audi A3 at nearly 100 MPH on August 20, 2023.
The 24-year-old, who once received £ 3.4 million a year as a promising young defender, had 'irregularly driven' in his Audi A3 before he hit a Ford Fiesta and was taken care of in the central reserve of the A34 in Cheshire.
On Tuesday, Championship Side Hull gave him 15 minutes from the bank for his first outing since he played on loan for Ipswich against QPR in a 0-0 draw in December 2023.
Williams said in May that he wanted to be '100 percent focused' on his football and 'kick' with a new club, wherever that is.
'It hurts me now to watch football because I just want to be there, I just want to play. I miss it to be in a team, in the coach, to travel to games, to have meals together and just doing things, “he said.
'I want that feeling to win again and to be in the dressing room environment.
'I have had a lot of teams that tried to get me out – America, Europe and England – but I have not been ready. I want to go somewhere 100 percent focused and kick.
'I would like to experience that other culture. I am only 24, so I could do three or four years abroad. Absolutely Europe at a good club or an upcoming club. '
Williams admitted that he had tried to show off a female passenger sitting next to him, and a witness would have filmed him by his mouth with a balloon. Prosecutors said it was 'happy' that nobody was seriously injured or killed.
Judge Eric Lamb also forbade Williams to drive for three years and ordered him to do an unpaid work for 180 hours.
The Handgrown Man United Talent announced last June that he would leave the club at the end of his contract, and when the incident took place – in August 2023 – Williams was on loan in Ipswich Town.
He made 51 performances for United after their youth academy.
