Viktor Gyokeres destroyed the Arsenal sales record in the days after his signing was confirmed.
After weeks of heavy negotiations with Sporting Lisbon, the Gunners finally officially announced the Swede as an Arsenal player on Saturday in a deal worth £ 64 million.
The news sent Arsenal -fans in a frenzy, with an announcement video that contributed to such an excitement because it was revealed that the new frontman of the club will wear the iconic No 14 shirt, previously worn by club icon Thierry Henry.
It was thought that Gyokees had preferred No. 9 – currently the number of Gabriel Jesus – but later expressed his desire to follow in the Frenchman's footsteps.
To mark the arrival of Gyokeres, Arsenal offered to print his name and number on the shirts of the following season for free, a service that would usually cost £ 16.
And the promotional movement was conceived by a wave of enthusiasm, where Arsenal fans flowed to the club shop and website to get their free Gyokees shirts before the deadline on Thursday.
Early figures even suggest that 'no 14 gyokeres' shirt sale that has overshadowed some signing in recent history, whereby sales will only increase before the deal ends tomorrow.
