CRAIG HOPE’S 5 THINGS WE LEARNED from Newcastle United 0-1 K League XI

Newcastle was defeated 1-0 by a K-League XI in the Suwon World Cup Stadium in South Korea, because their summer of Wee should have few signs of relaxing.

A defeat and a major injury were two still strokes for Eddie Howe, because the uncertainty about the future of Alexander Isak is about the club.

The only goal was scored by Kim Jin-Kyu for the hosts when she surpassed Howe's side 15 to 13.

Our main football reporter Craig Hope was present in Suwon, and here are five large collection restaurants …

1. We know they need a striker – here is their newest target of £ 40 million

We already knew this, but another pre-season game in which Newcastle could not score and win without Alexander Isak brought the need for a new striker, if not two!

And here is a new name that I can bring you. I and my post -sports colleague Simon Jones work around the clock about transfers (quite literally in view of the time difference) and we understand that Newcastle did an informal investigation into Fulham's Rodrigo Muniz. There have been no high -level conversations, but intermediaries have been involved in discussions and a fee of £ 40 million.

In the meantime, Newcastle continues to follow Deals for RB Leipzig's Benjamin Sesko and Yoane Wissa van Brentford. The feeling in the club, however, is that Sesko probably goes to Manchester United, which would be enormous frustration, since they are so enthusiastic about the Slovenian.

However, that could possibly pave the way for a movement for Ollie Watkins from Aston Villa, which is on the Shortlist of Newcastle. Nicolas Jackson from Chelsea too, but several others are currently for him.

2. A relevant lack of energy

There is of course huge mitigation. Firstly, the Suwon World Cup Stadium would make the most British greenhouses feel an iglo.

Even the locals said this was unusually hot, and the weather of the government warned Pinging on our phones confirmed so much. Be careful with exercise, said it, and so were Newcastle! Secondly, the field was not great, a patchwork quilt of dehydrated grass.

But … Newcastle wasn't great either. This is a third straight defeat in the preseason and it was not only energy levels that were low. They had little inspiration and imagination.

Again, let's not make a judgment, but I think Howe would have hoped to see more of what a strong enough was XI, including likely Premier competition -Starters Nick Pope, Tino Livramento, Sandro Tonali, Anthony Gordon and Anthony Elanga.

They had a few half chances, but the Koreans had more and were winners.

3. Elanga shines – but does not get support

Of those names above, Elanga was definitely the choice, at least early. The speed of his movement, on and of the ball, really attracts the eye. There is also no shortage of trust.

However, what seems to be a shortage of, however, there is a connection with the people around him. In a few times he played fresh, early steps and his teammates were flat.

But Elanga was positive for Howe, who needs all the pluses that he can get now!

4. Snoozing Suwon gets some Parkleven

The only player who perhaps dedicated Elanga was Seung-Sooo Park, the 18-year-old Korean who came up for his debut in Newcastle.

He almost sent this stadium in a job to the first involvement of the home hero before he won a corner. He was busy again shortly thereafter, in and out and away from opponents.

The excitement mirrors had been that low, you urged him to just give him the ball at his senior comrades!

On full -time, Kieran made Trippier (an unused sub) directly to the park and gave him a well -deserved arm around the shoulder. I would certainly like to see more of him this preseason.

5. Get well soon, Joe

But the night ended on a real sour note, with Joe Willock extended late. He made a challenge and immediately gave the dugout and grabbed the back of his ankle. Willock has a history of Achilles problems and it looked like a similar problem.

What a shame that would be for a player who has been chased in the past seasons. It can also add a midfielder to the Newcastle summer list …
