Two teenagers and a £ 116 million people fired Liverpool over the victory in Japan when they came from behind to beat Yokohama F Marinos in the last outing of their tour through Asia.
Trey Nyoni, 18, and Rio Ngumoha, 16, scored fine goals after Big-Money Florian Wirtz pulled the Reds level in the late heat and humidity of the Nissan Stadium.
Lewis Steele from Mail Sport was in situ at the last location of 2002 and here are his big talk points …
Rio is the real deal
There is a lot of chatter in Liverpool that Ngumoha is the best child in the academy and that he is a big prospect.
That's wrong … he's no longer a prospect. He is now ready.
After drawing Chelsea this time last summer, the 16-year-old praising reviews of Academy Observers, but this preseason, has brought his status with Arne Slot to a whole new level.
His goal here, in the second half, came into space after a long run, took a player and ended with style. A few minutes earlier he hit a man, but saw a shot saved well. He did not let that come to him and continued to join, and showed his mentality.
Ngumoha must be protected in terms of not playing too much football if he is too young and to cause him so fitness problems later in his career, but he is absolutely ready to be part of the first team team.
… as Nyoni also grabs his chance
The good partner of Ngumoha, the 18-year-old midfielder Nyoni, may not be spoken in the same frequency as the first because he is often assessed as the best boy in the Liverpool academy.
But Nyoni is just as great talent that fans should become enthusiastic about.
He took his goal well here, kept popping up in dangerous areas and it is believed that he manages him very high.
After playing several times for the first team last season, this could be the year that he really starts and played a major role in training sessions, impressive on the coaching staff.
In the meantime, colleague -young Ben Doak was not available for selection for this game due to a passport problem that meant that the shot could not get the necessary visa to play professional sports in Japan.
He gained access to the country on a general visitor visa and has trained with the team, but due to rules here a special permit is required for those who are paid for sports.
DOAK is very interested in a permanent or loan movement this summer, so it was a shame for all the parties he could not comprehend.
Hugo not a boss … yet
This was the first chance for Liverpool fans to see £ 69 million signed Hugo Ekitike, who officially came to the club last week and collapsed Hong Kong to meet his new teammates.
He looked sharp in training, but the 45 minutes he had here in Yokohama were nothing to write home about, as the saying reads.
The Frenchman kept the ball up nicely, but the service was missing, so it's hard to come up with a serious figure for Ekitike during his unofficial debut.
What is even more important for the 23-year-old are the minutes in the legs prior to what will be a long season. Yes, an offer is in the pipeline for another No. 9, Alexander Isak, but regardless of that Ekitike will play a lot and he looks a solid option.
Nunez Rent fans back in
Speaking of no. 9s, it is easy to forget that £ 85 million Darwin Nunez is still in Liverpool.
The Uruguayan has long been connected to a relocation of the club – Napoli and Saudi -Arab clubs have placed an interest – but in the last month of the transfer window he is still a Liverpool player.
Before this match he had scored four goals in 90 minutes of action for the season … And he also had some nice accents here.
It is understanding that he also made an impression in training and shows a positive attitude.
And that raises the question: Can Nunez still make it in Liverpool? This will be his fourth season and after three up and down campaigns it is now or never. Maybe it's too late, but he is faltering Reds fans with a series of fine versions in the low season.
However, he missed a babysitter on 1-0 here.
Wirtz on fire again
Liverpool paid £ 116 million for Wirtz, so this is clearly one of the best players in the world … but his pre-season performances have let fans reach a level of excerpts that borders stratospherically.
Simply put, he is already the center of this team next to Mohamed Salah. The couple combines as if they have been playing together for years – and Wirtz gives Liverpool a new dimension in the middle of the park.
Dominik Szoboszlai had a fantastic season in the past term, but Wirtz is at a different level in terms of creativity.
He took his goal well here, but the most important thing he gives is a constant threat every time he gets the ball. The German always causes disaster, lets things happen and wants to choose holes in the opposition defense.
It might be a daring prediction, but if he stays fit, he is my choice for the Player of the Season Award.
How did other new boys do it?
New goalkeeper Mamardashvili made a good stop in the first half to deny a header of a point-blank range.
The Georgia No. 1, which signed last summer, but only earlier this window came to the club earlier, also looked comfortable with the ball at his feet.
Milos Kerkez had a few raging runs along the left in the first half, while Jeremie Frimpong added another dimension with his pace and strength on the right when he came up.
The former Bayer Leverkusen Wing Back helped Liverpool minutes after his introduction to continue with a sensational assistant who put the ball on a plate for goal scorer Nyoni.
The men from Slot have made a number of record-breaking, headline-making signs with Wirtz and Ekitike, but the new full back lag looks a brilliant upgrade.
