Man Utd perform Ollie Watkins U-turn and draw up Benjamin Sesko transfer plan

Manchester United -boss Ruben Amorim is desperate to secure a new center ahead this season and he can finally get his wish after the club had opened conversations with Red Bull Leipzig about signing Benjamin Sesko

Manchester United has made a breakthrough in their attempt to sign a striker – with a movement for Benjamin Sesko that comes closer.

United has investigated deals for Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins and RB Leipzig Vooruit Sesko while they are looking for a proven goal scorer to lead their attack.

United is supposed to have opened informal conversations with Leipzig with regard to Sesko, although no offer has yet been made.

Watkins was the preferred option of United, since he has Premier League experience, a policy that United has decided this summer in their recruitment, as evidenced by the signing sessions of Matheus Cunha van Wolves and Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford.

But villas £ 60 million appreciation of the 29-year-old Watkins has proven a stumbling block for every deal that is agreed for the English star, where the 22-year-old Sesko saw as a more feasible option considering his age, although he will cost a similar fee.

Nevertheless, United Face competition for Sesko, where Newcastle also wants the Slovenia International Alexander Isak to replace the £ 150 million tone striker to Liverpool.

Sesko scored 39 goals in 87 games for Leipzig and 16 goals in 41 performances for Slovenia, with united boss Ruben Amorim desperately looking for a productive striker to solve his score crisis.

United last season only succeeded 44 goals in the Premier League, where the current strikers Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee cannot consistently score enough to justify the attack.

It is understood that United Villa approached Watkins, but was only willing to pay for him in the £ 45 million region and saw their first approach rejecting when it ran far from their appreciation.

Sources in Germany have indicated that there is a men's agreement between Leipzig and Sesko to have him leave for a fee of £ 60 million to £ 70 million plus add – but only to select clubs.

Sesko has been on the Radar of United and their director of recruitment, Christopher Vivell for some time, could play a key role that had worked at Leipzig and the former club of the striker, RB Salzburg.

United had originally hoped to sign Liam Delap this summer, but the striker of Ipswich moved to Chelsea instead. A number of other strikers have been considered, but Nicolas Jackson from Isak and Chelsea were considered too expensive.

Newcastle will still hope that they can convince Sesko to move to Tyneside when Isak leaves after he spoke with Leipzig and the player's camp.
