KSI laughs off Tommy Fury’s claim he’s pulling out of Darren Till Misfits Boxing fight over head kick concerns

After Tommy Fury claimed he was pulling out of his fight with Darren Till, it appears the event's promoter still believes the fight is on.

The fight was due to take place on January 18 at the Co-Op Live Arena in Manchester as the main event of Misfits Boxing's return to the city. And it seems like KSI, who owns Misfits with business partner Mams Taylor, seems to think this will still happen.

KSI has fought Fury before, losing by unanimous decision after six rounds in the main event of last year's Prime Card. And he seems to relish the chance to become a boss of sorts for his old rival.

Tommy Fury claims to pull out of fight with Darren Till

There was a lot of tension between the pair at the launch press conference for Tommy Fury and Darren Till's fight last month. The former UFC welterweight title contender made the seemingly tongue-in-cheek comment that if he were to lose, he would simply throw a kick and knock out his opponent.

And despite his management insisting he would have been willing to give up his wallet if he had actually broken the rules, Fury has now told fans via an Instagram story that the fight is over. “I can't believe I'm writing this but I'm not fighting Darren Till right now on January 18, 2025,” he wrote.

“For the one simple reason that Darren has stated time and time again that he does not want to adhere to professional boxing rules and that if he loses the fight he will resort to kicking and other stupid MMA tactics.

“I'm a professional boxer, I've been out of the ring for over a year and I wanted this to be a great BOXING fight for the fans. I wasted weeks at training camp.

“We are working hard to find a new opponent and date. I promise I will get a better opponent and fight better for you. Good news around the corner.”

KSI responds as he warns Tommy Fury to stay ready for Darren Till

After reading Fury's claim that he would not fight, KSI logged onto X and stated that the fight would still happen. He laughed off the idea of the fight being canceled due to the threat of a head kick.

“Tommy Fury is afraid of getting kicked during a boxing match hahaha,” the YouTube star wrote to his 8.9 million followers. “Darren Till isn't going to kick your ass, buddy, relax and get ready for your fight in January on Misfits.”

Fans also noted in the comments that Fury had made a similar joke to Till's in the lead-up to his fight with KSI last year. The social media sensation had thrown an illegal elbow in his fight with Joe Fournier, turning his win into a no-contest, and his rival jokingly practiced elbows during a promo video.

“He's the boxer and he's the bigger name. So if this is the case, he can't fight me or anyone else. This doesn't happen; Tommy has withdrawn and I am still attending the main events on that date. Now I'm the A side and I'm in charge, while the opponent is being found at the moment.

“I have always adhered to the rules of fighting all my life. I was building up the fight with Tommy and saying things that I knew would make him fuck himself because I know deep down he's not a real fighter. And now it has come out that what I said is true, he has withdrawn and shown his true colors.

“See you all on January 18, because no matter what happens, I will be there, as I have always been, I will always show up and it will always remain that way for the fans, whether you like me or not. Someone find John Fury for me because he's not answering the phone, probably talking to young coaches again or smashing glass.
