Jan Paul van Hecke refuses to extend Brighton contract, seeks move to big club

Jan Paul van Hecke has refused to negotiate with Brighton & Hove Albion about a contract extension and urges a switch to a Top Premier League club, sources near Van Hecke confirm.

The sources told Voetbal International that Van Hecke dreams of playing in the Champions League and wants to play on the World Cup 2026. The Center half will therefore look for a top Premier League club.

Brighton was ready to make Van Hecke the best -paid player in club history, but the Dutch international changed Brighton's proposal.

Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United are reportedly after Van Hecke, who made his debut for the Orange earlier this year.

The Center half came to Brighton from NAC Breda in 2020, who receives 7.5% of Van Hecke's future transfer costs and cost the Seagulls € 2.5 million. Now Brighton is said to be looking for € 50 million for Van Hecke, who will not force a transfer from the club.

Van Hecke is under contract in Brighton for another two years, who will open their Premier League season against Fulham on 16 August.
