Real Madrid to hold onto 18-year-old defender despite Borussia Dortmund interest

Real Madrid has a fixed plan for most of their Castilla products, but it seems that Diego Aguado is the exception to the rule. Despite the interest in Aguado from abroad, Los Blancos do not consider an exit for him.

The 18-year-old defender, who made his debut earlier this year at the Senior Side in the Copa del Rey, can play both Links and Center-Back. This summer he was the subject of several offers from the German Giants Borussia Dortmund, who have been rejected.

Dortmund offered at least € 6 million for Aguado, similar to what they received for Nico Paz in his move to Como, or Takefusa Kubo in his switch to Real Sociedad, but Los Blancos has been recorded. Marca says that Real Madrid does not intend to let him go, because they believe that Aguado has a long-term projection for the first team and this season will be a central part of their Castilla side. Aguado recently wrote a new deal until 2029, and in the spring it was expected to be part of the Club World Cup team.

With the arrival of Xabi Alonso, Los Blancos is expected to hand over more opportunities to emerging talent, and the Basque manager has also shown interest in his progress. Aguado was part of the team that traveled to the US for the club World Cup, with his versatility that turned out to be useful for Alonso.

The progress of Gonzalo Garcia Torres this summer will give new hope to prospects in La Fabrica, and Aguado seems to be one of the next one in line. Joan Martinez, a highly rated right back Jesus Fortea and central defender Joan Martinez, are also tipped for major careers. The latter was last summer on Real Madrid's prescription tour and will spend this year with it to be informed after a cross -covering.
